Ian Lavery MP helped The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) to celebrate its third Healthcare Champions Awards ceremony yesterday at a special reception held at the State Rooms at the Speaker’s House, House of Commons.

Ian Lavery MP celebrated ‘World School Milk Day 2011 by visiting pupils and staff at Rascals Day Nursery and Newbiggin Childrens Centre.
Ian Lavery, MP for Wansbeck constituency, has attended an event at the House of Commons organised by The Royal British Legion to highlight the importance of supporting bereaved Armed Forces families.

The Miners Memorial Service is a key part of the Northumberland Miners Picnic Weekend which is held annually.
Earlier this week Ian Lavery MP, Member of Parliament for Wansbeck, attended the launch of the RSPCA’s ‘Fairer Fillings campaign’ to support the charity’s call for people to consider animal welfare when buying or making their lunch. The Fairer Filings campaign encourages the public to swap their usual lunch with at least one lunch during the week that contains higher welfare ingredients.
Ian Lavery MP today called on the Government not to ignore calls to deal with problems caused by so called legal loan sharking and instead bring forward plans for a cap on the total costs of credit for consumers. Ian Lavery showed his support for these measures by joining other MPs in signing an amendment to the Finance Bill being debated in parliament asking the Government to review whether the bank levy could be applied to these companies to stop them lending money in ways which are damaging to consumers.
