Ian Lavery, Member of Parliament for Wansbeck in Northumberland and Chair of the Labour Party has met with a survivor of the horrific contaminated blood scandal that took places throughout the 1980’s and early 1990’s.

Mr Lavery spoke after meeting Sean, his constituent who has campaigned hard and raised the issue with Ian as his Member of Parliament.

“I would like to extend a huge thank you to Sean Cavens, who today came to see me to talk about the importance of making as many people as possible aware of the horrendous injustices surrounding the Contaminated Blood scandal. This scandal has ruined, damaged and taken many lives in the U.K. and the impact this has had on individuals and families across the country is immeasurable.”

“Thanks to Sean for his bravery and commitment to oppose this injustice and also for providing me with the official necktie, which is coloured to represent those we’ve lost (Black) those who contracted HIV/AIDS (red) and those who still suffer the damaging effects of HEP-C (yellow).”
