Ian Lavery MP joined calls this week from UNITE the Union for Employers to supply free sanitary products in all workplaces across the UK.

The new campaign labelled ‘UNITE demands Period Dignity’ has been started in the North East by the Union’s organisers and activists and now Mr. Lavery, a supporter of schemes such as the Red Box Project tackling period poverty in Northumberland, has added his voice to the campaign.

Ian said; “Thank you to UNITE the Union for asking myself and Sadiq Khan to come along and help launch the ‘UNITE demands Period Dignity’ campaign at Labour Party Conference. We need to keep up this pressure on the Government, on employers and other organisations, who have a duty of care to millions of women across the U.K. Let’s demand Period Dignity together!”

Mr Lavery’s own constituency office has provided free sanitary products, available to all people who visit the office / attend surgeries, for the past few months now.
