Ian Lavery, Member of Parliament for Wansbeck, met with Kim Mcguinness, the Labour candidate hoping to replace Vera Baird as Police and Crime Commissioner in the upcoming by-election. Ian said; “It was great to have a visit from Kim McGuinness following her selection as Labour’s candidate for Police and Crime Commissioner in the Northumbria Police area.
Kim is going to make a great Police and Crime Commissioner with her energy and enthusiasm as well as her commitment to fighting inequality and injustice.”

The by-election was triggered by Vera Baird’s successful appointment as victim’s commissioner nationally. Ian praised Vera’s work over the past few years saying that she had “shown real dedication to the office and will go on no doubt to do excellent things, carrying on her fight for justice for those victims of crime who are far too often silenced.”

Kim Mcguinness is campaigning across the Northumbria Police force area, engaging with residents and organisations so that she can build a vision for her native North East that will prioritise tackling crime and counter-acting vicious Tory Government Austerity cuts.

Make sure to Vote Labour and Vote for Kim on Thursday 18th July!
