Ian Lavery, MP for Wansbeck, has visited the premises of Northumberland Community Bank, as part of his ongoing work to support the community and promote campaigns to tackle Loan Sharks – especially in the run-up to Christmas.
Northumberland Community Bank provides access to the following services for local residents;
- We are a financial co-operative that encourages its members to borrow and save responsibly.
- We provide an alternative to banks, building societies and high-interest loan providers, such as pay-day or doorstep lenders.
- We encourage you to save what you can and borrow only what you can afford to repay.
After visiting the Bank’s main site in Ashington, Mr Lavery said; “Thanks to the team at Northumberland Community Bank for letting me come and look around to see for myself the great operation and services being offered to all of our local residents across the county.”
“Having a strong alternative to the Loan Sharks who prey on our vulnerable and struggling residents is very welcome here in Northumberland and I’m looking forward to working closely with you all in the future!”
