Following recent news regarding access to Medical Cannabis in the UK and reports from Constituents that have struggled to access medical cannabis, Ian Lavery MP, has renewed his calls for the Government to ensure that those in need of access to Medical Cannabis are not held back in any way.

Mr Lavery, who presented a petition to the House of Commons in 2018 about Medical Cannabis, spoke about his anger that the Government had not made the drug readily available to those who were in desperate need for during pain and fighting illness.

He said; “the calls of over 100 MPs and GPs from across the country seems to still not be enough to convince this Government to do the right thing. Medical Cannabis for some patients, is the only thing that alleviates any pain or suffering which they may have to endure in a chronic state. Resisting these changes which were supposed to be made in legislation by now is an act of ignorance and cruelty. Stories of parents selling their houses to pay for treatment are heartbreaking and I implore the Department of Health to do the right thing.”
