The Chairman of the Labour Party has joined calls for Boris Johnson to resign as Prime Minister following a ruling from the Supreme Court this morning.

The court ruled that the actions taken by Mr Johnson to prorogue parliament (rather infamously) were unlawful, prompting widespread condemnation.

Mr Lavery issued a short statement on Twitter saying: “This is an outrageous abuse of power and there is only one response worthy of Johnson’s actions; he MUST resign immediately. Democracy is in peril.”
