Labour Chairman and local MP, Ian Lavery, has shared a letter he received with a special memento attached, from a friend in the Trade Union Movement.

Mr Lavery, whose Constituency covers Bedlington, has shared a message welcoming the gift which has a special place in Bedlington’s local history and heritage.

On Social Media, Mr Lavery shared an image of the Memento sent by UNITE the Union’s Jim Mowatt as a reminder of the strength of solidarity, whilst Parliament continues to battle through debates and divisions over Brexit.

Mr Lavery tweeted;

“In times of division, I am delighted to have received this message of solidarity from my great friend and comrade Jim Mowatt.”

“This is a fabulous memento of Bedlington’s past that reminds us that the history of co-operation and solidarity is longer than Brexit.”
