An urgent statement has been released by Wansbeck MP Ian Lavery today following an announcement from the Government regarding the long-promised ‘Ashington, Blyth and Tyne line’ which would see passenger rail services returned to Bedlington, Ashington and Blyth.

Mr Lavery said: “I have just issued the below response to the Government’s announcement about returning rail services to Ashington, Bedlington and Blyth Valley.”

“The people of Northumberland deserve better than this pathetic token gesture of £1.5m toward a project that will cost at least hundreds of millions.”
