On Monday 10th February, Morpeth Pensioners were invited to attend a drop-in session arranged and hosted by local MP Ian Lavery and his Casework Team.
The event was the latest in a string of Wansbeck-wide sessions, specifically organised to target constituents of Pensionable age, as part of Mr Lavery’s plans to ensure that those entitled to ‘Attendance Allowance’ (A government benefit) are given the support and advice they need to send off an application if they are eligible to do so.

Mr Lavery said; “My team had a fantastic time speaking to residents at Morpeth Town Hall and as I understand it, every single resident who attended is eligible to apply for Attendance Allowance.” A local Morpeth Pensioner who wished to remain anonymous said; “The event was very helpful and having previously had doubts about whether or not I was entitled to apply for attendance allowance, I now have submitted an application with the support of Ian’s team for £87.65 a week, if I am successful in this application it will make a huge change to my daily life and circumstances.”
Mr Lavery’s Casework team were joined at the event by representatives from Karbon Homes’ Welfare Benefits Support Team. Mr Lavery added; “Thanks to Karbon Homes for getting involved in this event and thank you to those residents who came along and joined us in our mission to ensure that those who are in need and entitled to benefits such as Attendance Allowance are getting every single penny that they deserve.”

Mr Lavery is encouraging Wansbeck Constituents who have missed any of these events to get in touch with his office, who work all year round and will be able to provide the same advice and support over the phone, in-person or via email. Constituents can contact the office on; 01670 852494 or by emailing; ian.lavery.mp@parliament.uk
