2020 has been an extremely difficult year for all of us mentally, physically and financially.

But during this tough time we have also seen the incredible spirit of the community, and what we can do when we come together.

Perhaps the most stark example of this came over half term, when after the Conservative government voted against providing free school meals for all children over the time of school the community rallied together to ensure that no child went hungry.

To celebrate this incredible spirit I am bringing back Local Hero award. This gives people the opportunity to nominate someone who has gone beyond the call of duty to help those in our region this year.

To nominate somebody for this award please email my office at ian.lavery.mp@parliament.uk with the name of the nominee, their contact details, and a brief description of why you have nominated them.

Nominations will close on the 2nd December and will be followed by a 2 week voting period after which the winner will be announced.

If you know of someone who’s actions this year deserve to be acknowledged and recognised them please do not hesitate to nominate them!
