The week from the 8th-14th February marks Heart Unions week, a week dedicated to raising awareness and celebrating the role unions have played in protecting their members.
The role of unions have been more important than ever throughout the pandemic. The attack on workers’ rights has become more aggressive than ever with the rise of fire and rehire as seen at a number of companies across the country such as British Gas, Tesco, Heathrow Airport and a large number of others.
I have been going live on Facebook every day this week with local and regional union representatives talking about the role unions have played throughout the pandemic to support their members.
This has ranged from supplying PPE, protecting women’s rights in the workplace and at home, to supporting mental health and much more.
